Two egg cups included. Egg cups confirm this hen and porcelain egg cups featuring black script text that reads "Rathhaus zu Würzburg / Südseite" (referencing the south side of the town hall in Würzburg, Germany), sitting atop a matching multi-hole egg server tray decorated with a majolica-style hen figurine lid.
The text on the small cup translates to "Würzburg Town Hall / South Side," pointing to a mid-19th-century European porcelain set. The larger piece functions as an Eierwärmer or egg warmer/server set, where soft-boiled eggs were kept warm under the ceramic hen lid.
This is a hard to find, antique piece. There are two chips on the back lid as shown in picture and a repair. Lid has been repaired underneath front portion, where you see an internal crack inside lid as shown in picture. Production Estimated from mid 1850s - early 1915.
